Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hand vacuum pump, e.g. -VAS 6213-
Work procedure
–  Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. gr.50.
   
–  Release screws -1- and remove cover for right drive shaft.
–  Remove heat shield collar.

In order to generate „vacuum“, push the ring -1- for the hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- into position -A-.
  N24-10282
–  Detach hose from vacuum setting element of change-over flap and connect the hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- instead.
–  Generate vacuum with the hand vacuum pump.
l  The linkage on the vacuum setting element for the change-over flap for radiator of exhaust gas recirculation must move -arrows-.
If the linkage does not move or only moves with a sudden motion:
t  The vacuum setting element for the change-over flap for radiator of exhaust gas recirculation is defective.
t  Change-over flap for radiator of exhaust gas recirculation is sluggish.
–  Replace radiator for exhaust gas recirculation → Chapter.
  Note
The heat shield collar should be fitted on again in the same place when installing.
