Removing and installing air filter housing
Removing and installing air filter housing
Remove air filter
–  Unplug connector -2- from air mass meter -G70-.
   
–  Open clamp -1- and detach intake hose to exhaust gas turbocharger.
–  If present, detach hose for preheating.

–  Remove vacuum lines with bracket -1- from air filter housing.

–  Relase screw -arrow- at air filter housing.
–  Take out air intake hose -4-.
–  Remove the complete air filter housing.
Remove intake hose
  Note
Due to the poor access of the pliers for spring strap clamps to the bottom intake hose it is preferable to remove the inlet connection from the exhaust gas turbocharger.

–  Remove crankcase ventilation hose -3-.
–  Detach vacuum hose -2- from intake hose -1- and expose. Unclip bracket.
–  Completely unscrew screw -4- (captive).
–  Swivel the inlet connection to the right and remove the intake hose -1-.
Install intake hose
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:
  S23-0249
–  When installing the inlet connection at the exhaust gas turbocharger make sure that the inlet connection is correctly seated on the bolt of the exhaust gas turbocharger -arrow-.
Install air filter housing
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:
  S23-0249
–  Pull through the drain pipe -arrow- between the gearbox and the body.
  N23-10298
–  Check if the drain pipe is correctly routed by looking under the wing.
t  Tightening torques → Chapter.
