  Note
t  There must not be any oil or coolant present in the blind holes for the cylinder head bolts.
t  Always replace the cylinder head bolts.
t  In case of repairs, clear sealing surfaces on cylinder block and cylinder head from gasket residues with chemical sealant remover. Wear protective googles and gloves when working with sealant and grease remover!
t  Remove the new cylinder head gasket from its wrapping immediately before fitting.
t  Treat the new seal with the utmost care. Damage to the silicone layer and in the area of the bead results in leakages.
–  Before fitting the cylinder head position the crankshaft on TDC marking.
–  Turn crankshaft against the running direction of the engine until all pistons are almost evenly at TDC.
–  Fit on cylinder head gasket.
–  Fit on cylinder head and screw on all 8 cylinder head bolts by hand.
   
–  Tighten cylinder head in four stages in the following order:
1.  Pre-tighten with torque wrench:
   Stage I = 40 Nm
stage II = 60 Nm
2.  Tighten further with a rigid wrench:
   Stage III = 90° (1/4 turn)
Stage IV = 90° (1/4)
  Note
Tightening up the cylinder head bolts after doing repair work is not necessary.
–  After securing the cylinder head turn the camshaft in such a way that the cams for cylinder 1 point upwards evenly. Set the crankshaft in the direction of rotation of the engine to the TDC before attaching the timing belt → Chapter.
–  After installing the cylinder head, fill tandem pump and cylinder head with fuel using a hand vacuum pump and ventilation reservoir → Chapter.
–  Further installation occurs in a similar way in reverse order to removal.
–  Make a test drive and interrogate the fault memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Checking the oil level:
t  → BookletFabia II.
