Replacing middle or rear silencer
Replacing middle or rear silencer
t  A separation point is provided for repair purposes for replacing the front silencer, if necessary the rear silencer.
t  The separation point is marked by indentation on the circumference of the exhaust pipe.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Body saw e.g. -V.A.G 1523-
t  Protective goggles
  WARNING
Wear safety goggles.
   
–  Separate exhaust pipe at right angles at the separation point -arrow 2-.
–  When installing, position clamping sleeve -4- between the side markings -arrow 1- and -arrow 3-.

–  Install the clamping sleeve in such a way that the ends of the screws do not protrude beyond the bottom edge of the clamping sleeve -arrow-.
–  Align exhaust system in cold condition free of stress → Chapter.
