Removing and installing the front coolant pipe, coolant pump
Removing and installing the front coolant pipe, coolant pump
1 - Gasket
–  replace
2 - Coolant pump
–  check smooth operation
–  if damage and leak present, replace complete
–  removing and installing → Anchor
–  Push on coolant hose (pos. → Anchor) up to the marking -arrow-
3 - 20 Nm
–  self-locking, replace
4 - Belt pulley
–  for the V-ribbed belt
5 - 10 Nm
6 - V-ribbed belt
–  before removing mark running direction
–  do not kink
–  check for wear
–  removing and installing → Chapter
7 - 20 Nm
8 - Coolant hose
–  only use screw clamp on the coolant pump side
–  Tighten screw clamp to 3 Nm
–  insert up to the marking onto the coolant pump
9 - 20 Nm
10 - Front coolant pipe
11 - to the expansion reservoir
12 - to bottom radiator
Removing and installing coolant pump
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Supporting device -MP 9-200-
t  Catch pan (e.g. -V.A.G 1306-)
t  Torque wrench 5...50 Nm (e.g. -V.A.G 1331 -)
t  Torque wrench 40...200 Nm (e.g. -V.A.G 1332 -)
Removing
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
  S19-0062
–  Remove engine cover → Chapter.
–  Only slacken the bolts of the coolant pump belt pulley.
–  Remove V-ribbed belt → Chapter.
–  Unscrew front coolant pipe from front and rear cylinder block.
–  Release screw clamp on the coolant pump and disconnect coolant hose.
–  Remove belt pulley from the coolant pump.

–  Mount supporting device -MP 9-200- and take up the weight of the engine/gearbox unit at the spindles.
–  Remove power steering reservoir (hoses remain connected).
  S34-0253
–  Unscrew engine mount -arrows-.
–  Unscrew coolant pump.
Install
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Pay attention to the following:
–  Replace seal for coolant pump.
–  First install ribbed V-belt then tighten the belt pulley bolts at the coolant pump.
–  Tightening torques → Chapter (assembly bracket) and side → Chapter.
–  Filling system with coolant → Chapter.
