Procedure after voltage supply has been interrupted
Procedure after voltage supply has been interrupted
If the voltage supply has been interrupted the engine control unit forgets all the learned and basic values. As in this case the control unit operates differently various driving conditions can occur while driving.
Special tools, test equipment as well as aids required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3-, 3A, 3B or 3C
Procedure
After a voltage interruption perform the following tasks:
–  Switch ignition on for at least 10 seconds.
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Adapt the engine control unit to the throttle valve control unit → Chapter.
–  Test idling.
  Note
During the idling test the activated charcoal filter solenoid valve is disconnected and the learning process of the lambda control is initiated.
–  Perform a long test drive during which the relevant values are learnt and if necessary driving behaviour shortcomings can be eliminated.
During this test drive the following conditions must be fulfilled:
t  The coolant temperature should rise beyond 85 °C.
t  Once the operating temperature is reached, the following operating conditions must be repeated several times: Idling, part load, enrichment, overrun.
t  In case of full load the engine speed must exceed 3500 rpm.
