Testing voltage supply for control unit
Testing voltage supply for control unit
Special tools, test equipment as well as aids required
t  Handheld multimeter, e.g. -V.A.G 1526 A-
t  Measuring tool set, e.g. -V.A.G 1594 A-
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/22- or - V.A.G 1598/31-
Test conditions:
   
l  Fuses No. 10 and 29 for engine control unit o.k
l  Battery voltage at least 11.5 volts
l  AC generator o.k.
Test sequence
–  Reading measured value block and display group.
for engine with engine identification characters AGU: 003 → Chapter
for engine with engine identification characters ARZ, ARX, AUM: 004 → Chapter
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Connect → Chapter test box at wiring loom to the engine control unit.
Testing voltage of terminal 30
For engine with engine identification characters AGU
–  Connect the multimeter and measure the voltage between bushes 2 and 3 of the test box.
For engine with engine identification characters ARZ, ARX, AUM
–  Connect the multimeter and measure the voltage between bushes 1 and 62 of the test box.
Continued for all engines
Specified value: min. 11.5 V
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Inspect wiring to relay plate according to the Current Flow Diagram and repair if necessary → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
Testing voltage of terminal 15
For engine with engine identification characters AGU
–  Connect the multimeter and measure the voltage between bushes 1 and 2 of the test box.
For engine with engine identification characters ARZ, ARX, AUM
–  Connect the multimeter and measure the voltage between bushes 2 and 3 of the test box.
Continued for all engines
–  Switch on ignition.
Specified value: min. 11.5 V
If the specified value is not reached:
–  Inspect wiring to relay plate according to the Current Flow Diagram and repair if necessary → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
