Fuse no. 43 o.k.
l
The coolant temperature must be at least 85°C.
l
All electrical components disconnected.
l
If vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, this must be switched off.
l
On vehicles with an automatic gearbox the selector lever must be in position “P” or “N”.
Check for proper operation

Connecting up the vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- and selecting the control unit for engine electronics → Chapter.

Select 08 for the function “read measured value block” and display group number 002 → Chapter.
Readout on display:
The drawn in air mass is displayed in the display field 4 (gram per second).
Specified value: 2.0 to 4.0 g/s

Press → key.

Enter 06 for the function “End output” and confirm the entry with key Q.

Switch off ignition.
If the nominal values are not reached or there is a fault relating to the air mass meter in the fault memory:

Test voltage supply of air mass meter -G70- → Chapter.
Test voltage supply of air mass meter -G70 -.
WARNING
To avoid damaging the electronic components, switch on the relevant measuring range before connecting the measuring cables and comply with the test conditions.

Disconnect the 3-pin plug connection from the air mass meter.

Connect hand multimeter e.g. -V.A.G 1526 A- between contact 3 of the plug and engine mass.
