Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Multimeter, e.g. -V.A.G 1715-
Checking the function and supply voltage
Test conditions
l  Battery voltage at least 11.5 V.
l  Fuses OK → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
l  All electrical components such as lights and rear window heater must be switched off.
Test sequence
–  Fold right rear seat forwards → Body Work; Rep. Gr.72.
–  Remove cover from the fuel pump.
–  Switch on ignition. The fuel pump must be heard to start running.
–  Switch off ignition.
If the fuel pump does not run:
–  Continue searching for faults using a multimeter, e.g. -V.A.G 1715-, → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
