Removing and installing parts of the lubrication system
  Note
t  If considerable quantities of metal swarf or abrasion - caused by rubbing damage such as damage to the crankshaft and conrod bearings - are found in the engine oil when carrying out engine repairs, the engine should be carefully cleaned and the oil channels in the oil cooler replaced in order to avoid consequential damage.
t  Testing oil pressure and oil pressure switch → Chapter.
t  The oil level must never exceed the “max” marking - risk of damage to catalytic converter!
Check the oil level, amount of oil and oil specification:
→ Octavia
1 - 15 Nm
2 - Support
q   For cable to oil level/oil temperature sender -G266 -
q   pay attention to different version
3 - Dipstick
q   the oil level must not be above the “max” marking!
4 - Filler funnel
q   Remove for extracting oil
5 - Guide tube
6 - Fitting sleeve
q   For centering oil pump/cylinder block
7 - Oil pump
q   with pressure relief valve 1.2 MPa (12 bar)
q   Before installing, check whether both dowel sleeves for centering oil pump/cylinder block are present
q   if there is any scoring on contact surfaces of gears, replace
8 - Intake manifold
q   Clean strainer if dirty
9 - O-ring
q   replace
10 - Oil pan
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   install with silicone sealant -D 176 404 A2-
11 - Oil drain plug - 30 Nm
q   with gasket ring
q   replace
12 - 10 Nm
13 - Oil level/oil temperature sensor -G266-
q   Test → Electrical System; Rep. Gr.90
14 - O-ring
q   replace
15 - Baffle
16 - Oil pump sprocket
q   Fits onto oil pump shaft in one position only
17 - Oil pump chain
q   before removing mark running direction
q   check for wear
18 - 20 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
19 - Front sealing flange
q   replace the gasket ring for the crankshaft - on the belt pulley side → Chapter
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   install with silicone sealant -D 176 404 A2-
20 - Chain tensioner
q   do not disassemble
q   Replace chain tensioner if spring is broken.
q   Check fitting position
q   When installing, hook on the spring and pretension
q   tighten to 16 Nm
