Procedure
Installation occurs in reverse order for removal, while paying attention to the following:
–  Check whether the dowel sleeves for centering the engine/gearbox are present in the cylinder block; insert if necessary.
   
–  Check whether intermediate plate is hanging at sealing flange and is pushed onto the dowel sleeves -arrows-.
–  Check the centering of the clutch disc.
–  Inspect clutch release bearing for wear, replace if necessary.
–  Lightly lubricate spline of input shaft with grease -G 000 100-.
–  When installing engine/gearbox unit, ensure adequate clearance to neighbouring components.
–  Align engine and gearbox mount → Chapter.
–  Install slave cylinder → Gearbox → Rep. Gr.30.
–  Install drive shafts on gearbox → Chassis → Rep. Gr.40.
–  Install front exhaust pipe → Chapter.
–  Install pendulum support → Chapter.
–  Install the gearshift mechanism and adjust the shift cables → Gearbox → Rep. Gr.34.
–  Electrical connections and proper routing → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
–  Install coolant hose → Chapter.
–  Top up coolant → Octavia.
  Note
Only re-use drained coolant if none of the following components has been replaced: engine block,cylinder head, coolant cooler, oil cooler and heat exchanger.
–  Check oil level before starting the engine →  Octavia.
–  Interrogate fault memory and erase → 1.9 ltr./96 kW (TDI) Engine, Fuel Injection and Glow Plug System → Rep. Gr.01.
–  Perform a test drive.
