Repairing Valve Gear > < Test condition
Test sequence
Test sequence
–  Remove the noise insulation.
–  Separate the central plug connection for the unit injector valves.
–  Remove all glow plugs with the flexible-head wrench for glow plugs.
   
–  Screw in adapters -V.A.G 1381/12- one after the other in place of the glow plugs.
–  Check compression pressure with the compression gauge -V.A.G 1763-.
  Note
Use of tester → Operating Instructions.
–  Operate starter until the tester no longer indicates a pressure rise.

–  Screw in glow plugs with flexible-head wrench.
   Tightening torque: 15 Nm
–  Interrogate fault memory and erase → 1.9 ltr./96 (TDI) Engine, Fuel Injection and Glow Plug System → Rep. Gr.01.
  Note
Faults are stored as a result of separating the central plug connection for the unit injector.
