Procedure
Procedure
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Unscrew windscreen wipers and remove plenum chamber cover → Body Work → Rep. Gr.66.
–  Release the connector catches and unplug the engine control unit connectors.
For engines with identification characters AEG, APK, AQY
   
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- to connector of wiring loom.
–  Perform test as described in the relevant repair sequences.
For engines with identification characters AZH, AZJ
  S24-0400
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to connector of wiring loom. The earth clip of the test box must be connected to the negative battery terminal.
–  Whether the engine control unit remains connected to the test box or not, is described in the relevant test procedures.
