Outside temperature sensor G17
Outside temperature sensor -G17 -
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Handheld multimeter, e.g. -V.A.G 1526 A-
–  Remove the left ventilation grid → Body Work → Rep. Gr.50.
–  Remove outside temperature sensor.
–  Unplug connector from outside temperature sensor.
–  Connect handheld multimeter to the contacts of the outside temperature sensor to measure the resistance.
Nominal values:
   
TemperatureSpecified value
-30 °Capprox. 18265 Ω
0°Capprox. 3300 Ω
20 °Capprox. 1184 Ω
50 °Capprox. 359 Ω

–  If the specified value is not reached, replace the outside temperature sensor.
–  If the specified value is reached, then check the cable to the outside temperature sensor → binder “Current Flow Diagrams, Electrical Fault Finding and Fitting Locations”.
–  If the specified resistance value and the cable to the temperature sensor are O.K., then replace the dash panel insert.
