Air conditioner pressure switch -F129-
  Note
If the vehicle has been fitted with air conditioner with automatic regulation (Climatronic), the pressure switch for the air conditioning system -F129 - is checked by the self-diagnosis → Chapter
Operation
   
t  The low/high pressure switch (switch between the contacts 1 and 2) switches the compressor off when there is underpressure or overpressure in the refrigerant circuit.
Switching pressures (in bar overpressure):
–  Opens at 1.2 bar (compressor off) and closes at 2.4 bar (compressor on).
–  Opens at 32 bar (compressor off) and closes at 24 bar (compressor on)
t  High pressure switch (switch between the contacts 3 and 4) switches the radiator fan V7 into the stage 2.
Switching pressures (in bar overpressure):
–  Closes at 16 bar (2nd fan stage switched on).
–  Opens at 12.5 bar (2nd fan stage switched off).
Removing and installing
  S87-0079
–  Separate 4-pin plug connection and remove pressure switch -B- (5 Nm).
  Note
The refrigerant circuit remains closed, connection to valve.
–  Replace -O--ring seal -A- (10.8 mm; 1.8 mm).
Inspect proper operation:
Test conditions
l  AC not operating
l  Fresh air blower switch -E9- on position “1”
l  Switch for air conditioning system -E35- pressed (on)

–  Remove plug -B- from switch -A- and bridge the contacts 1 and 2 at the plug -B-.
–  Switch on ignition.
  Note
t  If the magnetic coupling clicks when switching the ignition on and off, either the pressure in the refrigerant circuit is too low (refrigerant circuit empty) or the switch is defective.
t  Entrust the vehicle to a service centre for checking the pressures in the refrigerant circuit.
Test conditions
l  AC operating
l  Fresh air blower switch -E9- on position “1”
l  Switch for air conditioning system -E35- pressed (on)
–  Remove pressure switch and connect again to the wiring loom.
–  Switch on ignition.
  Note
In this condition the magnetic coupling must not click, otherwise the pressure switch is defective -F129- (although the air conditioning system is operating).
