Torque converter
The torque converter is equipped with a torque converter lockup clutch. The closing of the torque converter lockup clutch is load and speed sensitive and mechanically drives the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears slip independently.
The torque converter lockup clutch is integrated in the torque converter.
The ATF pump is driven by the torque converter.
  WARNING
Before installing the gearbox check the fitting dimension of the torque converter → Chapter.

t  Regulations concerning cleanliness when working on the automatic gearbox → Chapter.
t  Repair instructions → Chapter.
t  Coat gasket ring Pos. 2 with ATF. Other types of lubricant will cause the gearbox hydraulic control system to malfunction.

q   when removing the gearbox, secure to prevent from falling out
q   Identification characters → Chapter
q   Assignment → Chapter
q   installing → Chapter
q   Fitting dimension → Anchor
2 - Gasket ring
q   replace → Chapter
