Correct working sequence when re-setting the drive train
Correct working sequence when re-setting the drive train
If shank bevel gear and head bevel gear must be set, for the purposes of rationalised procedure, keep to the following working sequence:
1. Set friction torque and shank bevel gear (S3)
–  Set the preload of the tapered-roller bearings for the shank bevel gear by measuring the friction torque.
–  Determining the thickness of adjusting washer “S3” and inserting. Thus the shank bevel gear is axially fixed in such a way that the dimension from the middle of the head bevel gear to the front side of the shank bevel gear corresponds to the fitting dimension “R” determined during the production.
–  Perform control measurement for S3 → Chapter.
Set 2nd head bevel gear (S1 and S2)
–  Set preload of the tapered-roller bearing for the head bevel gear via Stot.
–  Setting the interlocking clearance. Select the thickness of the adjusting washers “S1” and “ S2 ” in such a way that the prescribed interlocking clearance is present between the shank bevel gear and the head bevel gear.
–  Checking the interlocking clearance.
The purpose of the adjustments is to restore the setting of smoothest running, as established by the testing machine at production. Utmost care and cleanliness during all measuring and assembly work are the essential pre-conditions for obtaining perfect results.
