Replace middle and rear silencer > < Removing and installing the exhaust manifold - Engines with identification characters AEH, AKL
Removing and installing the exhaust manifold - Engines with identification characters AVU, BFQ
Removing and installing the exhaust manifold - Engines with identification characters AVU, BFQ
Removing
–  Remove top part of intake manifold → Chapter.
–  Remove pre-exhaust pipe → Chapter.
For engines with identification characters AVU
   
–  Slacken the union nut -1- for the connecting pipe of the secondary air system.
Continued for all engines
–  Slacken the union nut -2- for the connecting pipe of the exhaust gas recirculation.
–  Unscrew bolts or nuts -3- for the shield and remove the shield.
For engines with identification characters AVU
–  Unbolt support -4- on the exhaust manifold and on the cylinder block.
Continued for all engines
–  Unbolt protective cover and disconnect the 6-pin plug of the lambda probe.
–  Slacken the bushing for the lambda probe cable and remove the lambda probe if necessary.

–  Unscrew nuts -1- of both brackets -3-, take off washers -2- (if fitted).
–  Unscrew the remaining nuts at the exhaust manifold -4-, take off washers (if fitted).
–  Remove the exhaust manifold -4- and its gasket -5-.
Install
  Note
t  Replace gasket for exhaust manifold.
t  Replace self-locking nuts (if no collar nut is present, use a 4 mm thick washer).
Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
–  Install pre-exhaust pipe → Chapter.
–  Align exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.
