Removing steering gear

–	Disconnect battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.

–	Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. gr.50.

Vehicles up to CW 21/08 (2nd generation power-assisted steering)

–	Remove screws -arrows- from the heat shield.

–	Remove heat shield from assembly carrier.

–	Release screws -1-, - 2-, -3- and -4-.

Vehicles as of CW 22/08 (3rd generation power-assisted steering)

–	Release screws -1- and - 2- for steering gear.

Continued for all vehicles

–	Remove assembly carrier with steering gear → Chapter.

–	Release fixing screws for steering gear.

–	Remove the steering gear from the assembly carrier.
