Removing and installing bellows → Chapter
Removing and installing track rod → Chapter
   
1 - Right track rod end
q   Inspect dust caps for damage and check that they are sitting correctly.
if a track rod end was replaced or removed and installed, the vehicle must be aligned → Chapter
2 - Nut, 55 Nm
q   When tightening the nut, the track rod end must be counterheld with a wrench.
3 - Spring strap clamp
4 - Bellows
q   check for damage
q   must not be twisted after setting the wheel toe
5 - Open warm-type clamp
q   replace after each removal
q   Clamp new open warm-type clamp with clamp pliers for steering gear e. g. -VAS 6199-
6 - Track rod, 100 Nm
q   removing and installing → Chapter
7 - Screw, 6 Nm
8 - Gasket
9 - Cover plate
10 - Steering gear
q   with power-assisted steering control unit -J500-
q   can be checked in the guided fault detection system with → Vehicle diagnostic tester
q   removing and installing → Chapter
Right-hand drive as of CW 22/08 and left-hand drive as of CW 22/09
q   The 3rd generation power-assisted steering
q   the steering angle sender -G85- is integrated in the steering gear and cannot be replaced separately
q   with three point fixing at assembly carrier
11 - Left track rod end
q   Inspect dust caps for damage and check that they are sitting correctly.
12 - Support
q   not present on vehicles with 3rd generation steering gear
13 - Rubber bearing
q   not present on vehicles with 3rd generation steering gear
14 - Clamp with nuts
q   replace if thread is damaged
q   not present on vehicles with 3rd generation steering gear
