Safety instructions for work on seat belt tensioners
t  All inspection, removal and installation and repair work must only be carried out by properly qualified personnel.
t  Belt tensioner units must not be opened or repaired. Only use original new parts (risk of injury).
t  Seat belt tensioner units that have been subject to serious impacts or which have been dropped onto the ground must not be fitted in vehicles.
t  Seat belt tensioner units which are mechanically damaged (dents, cracks) should always be replaced with original new parts.
t  Storage and transport must comply with the legislation on explosive and hazardous materials.
t  The non-ignited belt tensioners which have been taken out of commission must be sent to a specialist company or to the importer for disposal in compliance with the instructions of PST and environmental protection regulations.
t  Activated belt tensioner units can be disposed of as industrial waste.
t  The prescribed packaging should be used for storage and transport.
t  The belt tightener units should be installed immediately after being removed from their transport packaging.
t  Do not use electric or impact screw drivers to remove or install the seat belt tensioners.
t  Place the seat belt tensioner unit back in the transport packaging if the work is interrupted.
t  It is not permitted to leave the seat belt tensioner unit unattended.
t  The seat belt tensioner unit must not be treated with grease, cleaning agents or similar products, and it must not be exposed to temperatures above 100°C, not even for short periods.
t  Both seat belt tensioners together with the seat belts (the seat belts no longer retract) are to be replaced with new original parts following an accident in which the seat belt tensioners were deployed.
t  Ignite the belt tensioners before scrapping the vehicle → Chapter.
t  Remove the seat belt tensioner units before starting repair work.
