  WARNING
Observe the safety instructions for working with airbags → Chapter.
Only use the recommended cover with a sewn on identification label for installation purposes.
When installing observe the position of the cover - the identification label must be on the side of the airbag unit.
   
1 - Cover
Removing:
l  Headrest is removed.
–  Removing backrest → Chapter.
–  Unhook clamping section (Pos. 11) at the bottom cover side.
–  Unhook longitudinal wires of the cover (Pos. 12) in the bottom backrest area.
–  Cut through the first row of retaining clips (Pos. 10).
–  Unhook tensioning straps on the rear side of the cover.
–  Roll up cover and unhook clamping section on the rear side of the seat.
–  Cut through the second and third row of retaining clips (Pos. 10).
–  Unhook the longitudinal wire of the cover (Pos. 12) at rear and pull through to the front.
–  Remove cover from backrest upwards.
Installing:
  Note
When installing the cover, use upholstery clip pliers e.g. -V.A.G 1634-.
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
2 - Foam padding
Removing:
–  Remove seat cover (Pos. 1).
–  Remove foam padding.
Installing:
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
3 - Heating element
(if present)
4 - Transverse wire of the backrest rack
5 - Headrest
6 - Headrest guides
7 - Backrest rack
8 - Airbag unit
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
9 - Plastic cord
q   Sewn to cover (Pos. 1).
q   With holes for inserting the retaining clips (Pos. 10).
10 - Clamp
q   When removing cut through with pliers
q   To install use upholstery pliers e.g. -V.A.G 1634-.
11 - Clamping section of cover
12 - Longitudinal wire of cover
