Removing and installing the fuel-high pressure pump
Removing and installing the fuel-high pressure pump
Observe safety measures → Chapter.
Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
Condition
l  The engine must be cold.
Removing
  WARNING
Reduce the pressure in the high pressure part of the fuel system → Chapter.
–  Remove the engine cover with air filter → Chapter.
   
–  Disconnect the intake hose -9- from the fuel-high pressure pump -1-.
  Note
Collect the fuel with flows out with a cleaning cloth.
–  Remove the high pressure line -8-. To do so unscrew union nuts -5- and -6- and screw -7-.
–  Unplug connector -4-.
–  Unscrew bolts -3- completely.
  Caution
Do not unscrew the cover -2-. Otherwise there is a risk that the inner components of the fuel-high pressure pump can be damaged.
–  Pull the fuel high pressure pump -1- and the bucket tappet out of the camshaft housing.
Install
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:
  Note
t  Always replace the O-ring of the high pressure pump.
t  Replace damaged bucket tappet.
t  Moisten the bucket tappet and the O-ring of the high pressure pump with clean engine oil.

–  Check that the screw neck -4- in the high pressure pump has a tightening torque of 40 Nm.
–  Slide the bucket tappet -1- into the camshaft housing.
–  Insert a new, oiled O-ring -2- into the slot of the high pressure pump -3-.
–  Position the high pressure pump -3- onto the camshaft housing.

–  Tighten the fixing bolts -3- of the fuel-high pressure pump -1- to 8 Nm.
–  Insert connector -4-.
–  Install the high pressure line -8- as follows:
1 - Insert union nut -6- by 2 turns.
2 - Tighten union nut -5- by hand.
3 - Tighten union nut -6- by hand.
4 - Tighten screw -7- to 8 Nm.
5 - Tighten union nut -6- to 18 Nm.
6 - Tighten union nut -5- to 18 Nm.
–  Attach the intake hose -9- to the fuel-high pressure pump -1-.
–  Install the engine cover with air filter → Chapter.
