Removing and installing balancing shaft for outlet camshaft Special tools and workshop equipment required t  Extractor -T10394- t  Extractor -T10055-   Note Always replace the balancing shaft after removal. Removing –  Removing the balancing shaft timing chain → Chapter.

–  Remove balancing shaft for outlet camshaft -1-. If the balancing shaft cannot be pulled out by hand, use the extractor -T10394-:

–  Position the device -T10394/1 - for the extractor -T10394-.

–  Position the extractor -T10394- and push the sliding sleeve in -direction of arrow-.

–  Screw the extractor -T10055- into the extractor -T10394- and knock out the balancing shaft in -direction of arrow-. Installing   Note Due to the minimum clearance between the balancing shaft and the cylinder block, it may be necessary to install a cooled balancing shaft! Check if it is possible to insert the balancing shaft into the cylinder block without using force. If this is not the case, it is necessary to let the balancing shaft cool down before installing. t  Tightening torques: → Chapter

–  Check fitting position of balancing shaft pipe -arrow-. l  The stud -arrow- must latch into the groove.   Note In order to put the pipe into the assembly position, it must be slightly pressed together. Press the pipe into the crankcase and bend both halves once to the inside. –  Put a new balancing shaft into a freezer for about 30 minutes or spray with a commercially available cooling spray. –  Oil bearing of balancing shaft with engine oil. –  Install balancing shaft for outlet camshaft.

–  Before tightening the screw -1-, check if the balancing shaft rests flat against the cylinder block.   Note If the balancing shaft does not rest flat, the pipe for the balancing shaft must be inserted again. Further installation occurs in reverse order. However, pay attention to the following: t  Tightening torques: → Chapter –  Install balancing shaft timing chain → Chapter.
