1 - Exhaust valve
q   do not rework, only grinding in is permissible
q   Valve dimensions → Fig.
q   inspecting valve guides → Chapter
2 - Cylinder head
3 - Valve guide
q   check → Chapter
4 - Valve stem seal
5 - Valve spring
6 - Valve spring retainer
7 - Collets
8 - Hydraulic balancing element
q   do not interchange
q   oil contact surfaces
9 - Exhaust camshaft
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking the axial play of the camshafts → Chapter
q   Slack: max. 0.04 mm
10 - Cylinder head cover
q   with integrated camshaft bearing
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Cleaning and reworking sealing surface not permissible
q   remove old sealant residues
11 - 8 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
q   order of tightening → Chapter
12 - O-ring
q   replace
q   moisten with engine oil
13 - Plug
14 - Inlet camshaft
q   removing and installing → Chapter
q   Checking the axial play of the camshafts → Chapter
q   Slack: max. 0.04 mm
15 - Screw cap
q   replace
q   installing: Plunge into the middle of the cover using a screwdriver and lever out.
q   installing: Use no sealant, press in with pressure plate -T10174 - 1...2 mm deep.
16 - Inlet valve
q   do not rework, only grinding in is permissible
q   Valve dimensions → Fig.
q   inspecting valve guides → Chapter

  Note
Inlet and exhaust valves must not be reworked. Only grinding in with grinding paste is permissible.
