Removing and installing V-ribbed belt
   
Removing and installing V-ribbed belt
1 - 90 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
q   Attachment → Fig.
2 - Guide pulley
q   for toothed belt
3 - Bracket for auxiliary units
q   order of tightening → Fig.
4 - Bushing
5 - 23 Nm
6 - AC generator
q   removing and installing → Electrical System → Rep. Gr.27
q   to facilitate positioning, drive the threaded bushings for fixing screws at the generator slightly backwards
7 - 45 Nm
q   observe the order of tightening up → Fig.
8 - Bushing
q   2 pieces
q   must be inserted into the support (Pos. 3)
9 - 25 Nm
10 - AC compressor
q   removing and installing → Heating, Air Conditioning → Rep. Gr.87
11 - V-ribbed belt
q   mark the direction of rotation with chalk or a felt-tip pen before removing
q   check for wear
q   do not kink
q   removing → Anchor
q   installing → Anchor
12 - Belt pulley
q   with vibration damper
q   can be installed only in one position
13 - 10 Nm + torque a further 90° (1/4 turn)
q   replace
14 - Tensioning device for V-ribbed belt
q   swivel tensioning device for V-ribbed belt with open-end wrench to slacken the V-ribbed belt
q   after removal of the fuel filter, can be interlocked with locking pin -T10060A- or Allan key
15 - 23 Nm

Removing
  Caution
Mark the direction of rotation with chalk or a felt-tip pen before removing the V-ribbed belt. Reversing the rotation direction of an already used belt may destroy it.

–  Swing the the tensioning device in -the direction of the arrow- detension the V-ribbed belt.
–  Hold the tensioning device and remove the slackened V-ribbed belt.
Install
Installation occurs in reverse order to removal. Pay attention to the following:

Before fitting the V-ribbed belt make sure that all assemblies (generator and AC compressor) are securely mounted.

–  First position the ribbed V-belt on the belt pulleys of the crankshaft and AC compressor and on the belt pulley of the generator last; then release the tensioning device.
–  Check correct positioning of the ribbed V-belt on the belt pulleys.
–  Start engine and check ribbed V-belt run.
