  Note
t  The actuation of the exhaust gas recirculation system is performed by the diesel direct injection system control unit -J248- for the electrical EGR valve -N18- with EGR potentiometer -G212- and EGR control motor -V338-.
t  The mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve with conically shaped valve tappet makes it possible to achieve different opening cross-sections at different valve strokes.
t  Always replace self-locking nuts.

5 - Intake manifold flap motor -V157-
q   The intake manifold flap is closed for about 3 seconds after switching off the engine and then opens again. This reduces the switch-off impact.

7 - 10 Nm
8 - electrical exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18- with EGR potentiometer -G212- and EGR control motor -V338-
q   before installing, check sealing surfaces at intake manifold for dirt and clean as required
q   After replacing, adapt new part as follows:
–  Switch ignition on and off and wait 1 minute for the afterrun of the control units.
–  Start engine and run in idle for at least 1 minute.
–  Interrogate the fault memory → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
l  No fault must be stored in the fault memory.
–  If a fault occurs, erase the fault memory and repeat the entire work procedure.
