Removing and installing the expansion valve
  Note
t  Repairs must only be carried out in specialist service centres which have suitably trained personnel and are fitted out for working on the refrigerant circuit.
t  Before removing, empty the refrigerant circuit with the aid of the A/C service station.
t  All opened components of the refrigerant circuit must be protected from the penetration of ambient humidity with suitable plugs.
t  The O-rings must be replaced → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts and before installing moisten with refrigerant oil.
t  On certain engines remove the intake hose to the exhaust turbocharger, the DPF cover and if necessary the intake hose to the air filter for an easier access to the engine cover → Engine, corresponding repair group.

2 - Refrigerant lines on expansion valve
3 - O-ring
4 - Expansion valve
q   Removing:
–  Vehicles with cover plate in front of the expansion valve - remove cover plate for expansion valve → Chapter.
–  Release screws - Pos. 1 - and pull the refrigerant lines - Pos. 2 - out of the expansion valve.
–  Release screws - Pos. 9 - and remove the expansion valve from the heat-protection insulation - Pos. 6 -. 6.
q   Installing:
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
  Note
Observe the correct seating of the O-rings on the connection pipes - Pos. 10 - to the evaporator and on the refrigerant lines - Pos. 2 -. 2.
