Remove and install the handle and cover for the shift mechanism (Octavia II, Superb II) > < Inspecting and adjusting the selector lever control cable

   Start                     
                       
 
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
–  Switch off ignition
–  Withdraw ignition key
  Faulty gearshift mechanism or faulty steering lock.
–  Interrogating fault memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester
–  Replace defective parts.

 When the Lock button is pressed, can the selector lever be moved out of position „P“?yes
t  Selector lever control cable incorrectly adjusted?
t  Faulty plug connections on the shift mechanism?

–  Inspecting and adjusting if necessary the selector lever control cable
–  Check plug connections

–  Insert ignition key
–  Apply foot brake
–  Switch on ignition
   
                 
 When the Lock button is pressed, can the selector lever be moved out of position „P“?no

–  It must be possible to put the selector lever in position „R, N, D or S“
       
                          
 Can the ignition key be taken out? yes no     
                        
     no
–  Apply foot brake
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
The ignition key can be taken out and the selector lever is locked in position „P“.
