Checking operation of the ignition key anti-removal lock (Octavia II)
   
Checking operation of the ignition key anti-removal lock (Octavia II)
                            
   Start                     
     ↓ ←  ←  ←  ↑           
 
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
–  Switch off ignition
–  Withdraw ignition key
  Faulty gearshift mechanism or faulty steering lock.
–  Interrogating fault memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester
–  Replace defective parts.
 
     ↓          ↑           
     ↓          no           
     ↓          ↑           
 When the Lock button is pressed, can the selector lever be moved out of position „P“?→yes→
t  Selector lever control cable incorrectly adjusted?
t  Faulty plug connections on the shift mechanism?
→yes→
–  Inspecting and adjusting if necessary the selector lever control cable
–  Check plug connections

     no        ↑ 
     ↓          ↑ 
   Function OK        ↑ 
     ↓        ↑ 
 
–  Insert ignition key
–  Apply foot brake
–  Switch on ignition
 ↑  
     ↓          ↑  
 When the Lock button is pressed, can the selector lever be moved out of position „P“?→no→→↑  
     ↓ ↑  
     yes ↑ 
     ↓          ↑ 
 
–  It must be possible to put the selector lever in position „R, N, D or S“
     ↑  
     ↓          ↑           
 Can the ignition key be taken out?→ yes→↑←←←← no     
     ↓               ↑    
     no→→
–  Apply foot brake
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
→The ignition key can be taken out and the selector lever is locked in position „P“. 
                      ↓     
                      yes     
                      ↓     
                  Ignition key anti-removal lock o.k.
