Install gearbox (Octavia II)

–	Before installing, check the oil level and top up with gear oil → Chapter.

Capacity and specification → Chapter.

Check the oil level and top up with gear oil, proceed according to the following overview.

¹⁾ Gearbox housing and clutch housing were not separated.

The installation of the gearbox occurs in reverse order. Observe the stress-free assembly bracket in the vehicle → Engine; Rep. gr.10.

–	Before installing the gearbox press the clutch release lever towards the gearbox housing and secure with mounting bolt or screw M 8 x 35.

–	After installing the gearbox release screw again. The hole is then closed with the 3rd fixing screw for the cable support/control cables.

Note

t	Clean splines of drive shaft and apply a thin film of grease -G 000 100 -.

t	Always replace the self-locking screws and nuts → Electronic Catalogue of Original Parts.

t	If the gearbox is replaced, ensure the intermediate plate between the engine and gearbox is correctly installed.

t	Check whether the dowel sleeves for centering the gearbox are present in the cylinder block, insert if necessary.

t	Installing starter and cables → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.

t	Setting the shift mechanism → Chapter.

t	If the front left vehicle level sensor -G78- was removed, check headlight beam setting → Electrical System; Rep. gr.94.

–	Install noise insulation → Body Work; Rep. gr.50 and lower part of the front left wheelhouse liner → Body Work; Rep. gr.66.

–	Install the battery tray and battery → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.

Note

After the battery earth strap is disconnected and re-connected, carry out additional operations → Electrical System; Rep. gr.27.

–	Install air filter → Engine; Rep. gr.23.
