  Note
   
A new gasket ring has been inserted -B- as of 09.09, on which no closed surface is visible between the camshaft and the cylinder head but rather a hollow rounding is apparent. For the older version of the gasket ring -A-, a different work procedure must be performed → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Insertion tool -MP 1-214 (10-203)-
t  Gasket ring extractor -T10443-
t  Screw M12x1.5x75 from insertion tool -MP 1-214 (10-203)-
Removing
–  Pull toothed belt off camshaft sprocket and from toothed belt gear on the high pressure pump → Chapter.
–  Remove camshaft sprocket and hub → Chapter.
  WARNING
If it is turned back too much, the inner pressure plate loosens from the pressure screw. In this case, the pressure plate must be pressed onto the pressure screw once again.
–  Turn back the pressure screw of the gasket ring extractor »with fingertip touch« until a slight resistance can be felt.

The clamping sleeves of the gasket ring extractor have grub screws. However, the clamping occurs by means of only one of these grub screws -arrow- while the other ones are tightly bolted.

–  Position the gasket ring extractor straight as shown and screw in the grub screw -A- until the gasket ring extractor clamps.
–  Screw in the pressure screw -B- until the gasket ring is pulled out.
Install
  Note
The sealing lip of this gasket ring must be neither oiled nor greased.
–  Remove oil residue on the camshaft stud with a clean cloth.

–  Fit guide bushing made out of -MP 1-214 (10-203)- on the camshaft as shown in the illustration. The writing on the gasket ring must point outwards.
–  Carefully slide the gasket ring -1- over the guide bushing onto the camshaft.

–  Push on the sealing ring with the pressure plate of the insertion tool -MP 1-214 (10-203)- and press in screw M12x1.5x75 up to the stop.
–  Install the hub and the camshaft sprocket → Chapter.
–  Installing the timing belt → Chapter.
