Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Catch pan, e.g. -VAS 6208-
t  Old oil collecting and suction equipment, e.g. -V.A.G 1782-
Removing
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove air filter → Chapter.
   
–  Remove oil filter insert -3-.

–  Release screws -arrows-.
–  Remove engine oil cooler from oil filter holder.
Install
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:

t  Replace all the gaskets and O-rings.
t  Hose connections as well as charge air pipes and charge air hoses must be free of oil and grease before being installed.
t  Observe the mounting sequence for hose connections with screw clamps → Chapter.

–  Insert the new gasket -1- in the grooves at the oil filter holder.
–  Carefully position the engine oil cooler onto the dowel sleeves.

–  Press in the engine oil cooler at the flange of the oil filter holder in such a way that it rests on the complete surface and the extremities of the dowel pins -1- protrude out of the openings of the guide.

–  Insert screws -arrows-, first of all screw in by hand up to the stop, then gradually tighten crosswise.
   Tightening torque and tightening order → Anchor.
–  Install oil filter insert, fill with engine oil and check the oil level:
t  → BookletOctavia II
t  → BookletSuperb II
t  → BookletYeti
  Note
If the engine oil cooler was replaced, refill the entire system with coolant.
–  Top up with coolant, if necessary replace → Chapter.
