Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Sealant -D 454 300 A2-
Removing
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Remove the front intake manifold.
–  Unbolt the coolant expansion bottle.
–  Disconnect the electrical line to the switch for the coolant shortage warning light -F66- and place down the coolant expansion bottle to the side.
   
–  Disconnect the vacuum hose -arrow- from the mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve.
–  Unscrew injection lines with slotted ring spanner.

–  Disconnect the plug connection at the intake manifold pressure sender -G71--arrow-.
–  Loosen the cable clamp on the cylinder head cover on the left and wiring loom to one side.

–  Unscrew the return line from the injection nozzles -1-.
–  Unscrew the nuts -arrows- on the cylinder head cover and remove the cylinder head cover.
Install
Installation is performed in the reverse order, pay attention to the following points:
  Note
t  Replace sealing rings for the return lines.
t  Replace the gaskets for the cylinder head cover when damaged.
t  The cylinder head cover must be replaced if damage has occurred to the gaskets on the injection nozzles.

–  Place a small amount of sealant material -D 454 300 A2- on the joints -arrows- on the upper sealing surface of the cylinder head.
–  Tighten up the nuts for the cylinder head cover crosswise, tightly.
–  Install intake manifold at front.

1)  Tighten to 10 Nm after warming up.
