Removing and installing steering column switch
Removing and installing steering column switch
Removing
–  Remove steering wheel → Body Work; Rep. Gr.69.
   
–  Remove screws -arrows- and the upper covering of the steering column switch -1-.

–  Screw out screws -arrows- and screw -1-.
–  Remove the height adjustment for the steering wheel -2- and the lower covering of the steering column switch -3-.

–  Remove screw -1-.
–  Disconnect plug connections -arrows- and remove steering column switch.
  Note
The coil spring -2- remains in the steering column switch. Ensure that the coil spring does not get turned out of the centre position.
Install
If the steering column switch has been taken off, it is necessary to set the clearance between the steering wheel and the housing for the restoring ring.

–  Place the steering column switch -2- only on the steering column but do not screw it on yet.

–  Position the steering wheel so that the marking -arrow A- on the steering wheel and the punched point -arrow B- on the steering column are aligned.
–  First fix the steering column switch -2- in such a way, using the clamping screw -3-, on the steering column so that the distance -a- = 3 mm is maintained to the steering wheel -1-.
–  Remove the steering wheel again and then carry out the installation in the reverse order.
  Note
t  When installing, the ignition/starter switch and the lock cylinder must be in the same position, e.g. “Ignition ON”.
t  After tightening the two screws at the steering lock housing, secure them again with locking varnish.
