Removing and installing catalytic converter
Removing
   
–  Release screws -arrows- and remove heat shield for exhaust turbocharger.
  A26-10608
–  Release nuts -arrows- for catalytic converter.
–  Expose electrical wiring loom to generator at catalytic converter.
–  remove ribbed V-belt → Chapter

–  Disconnect plug -1- for regulating valve at AC compressor.
  Note
Do not open the refrigerant circuit of the air conditioning system.
–  Release screws -arrows- for AC compressor.
  Note
t  Risk of damaging refrigerant lines and hoses.
t  Do not over-tension, buckle or bend refrigerant lines and hoses.
–  Attach AC compressor with connected refrigerant hoses to the lock carrier.
  Note
t  Risk of damage to the decoupling element.
t  Do not bend the decoupling element at the front exhaust pipe by more than 10°.

–  Unscrew nuts -1- and -2-.
–  Expose electrical wiring loom for lambda probe downstream of catalytic converter -G130--arrows-.
–  Separate front exhaust pipe from catalytic converter.

–  Remove the plug connection -2- for lambda probe upstream of catalytic converter -G39- from the bracket and disconnect.

–  Release screws -1- and -2- and remove catalytic converter.

Install
–  Push the reinforcement clip -2--as shown in the illustration- onto the brackets of the catalytic converter -1-.
l  The »angle of bend«-arrow- must point downwards.
Use new screws -3- with a larger contact surface → Electronic catalogue of original parts.
Tighten new fixing screws -3- to 23 Nm.
Further installation occurs in reverse order.
