Air Bag: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation

DRIVER'S

Removal

1. Disarm SRS as outlined under Air Bag Disarming and Arming. See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair

2. Remove cap from righthand side of steering wheel, then disconnect horn connector, Fig. 3.

3. Using suitable Torx wrench and socket, remove bolts attaching air bag unit to steering wheel, Fig. 4.
4. Tilt air bag module forward and disconnect electrical connector, then remove module. Handle with cover facing away from body.

Installation

1. Position air bag module to steering wheel, then connect electrical connector. Ensure connector properly engages module, wiring is properly

routed and not caught between module and wheel. Support air bag in position: Do not allow it to hang from wiring or connector.

2. Install attaching bolts and tighten to specifications: lefthand bolt first, then righthand bolt. Ensure clearance between air bag module and steering

wheel is uniform

3. Connect horn connector and secure connector to cap projection, then install cap to steering wheel lower cover.
4. Arm SRS as outlined under Air Bag Disarming and Arming. See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair

PASSENGER'S

1. Disarm SRS as outlined under Air Bag Disarming and Arming. See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair
