ASSEMBLY

1. Using a screwdriver and hammer, install a new dust cover.
2. Using a screwdriver and hammer, install a new dust seal.
3. Temporarily install the new boots to drive shaft.

NOTE:

Before installing the two boots, wrap vinyl tape around the spline of the shaft to prevent the boots from damaging.

Place two new clamps to the outboard joint boot and install them to the drive shaft.

4. Install the tripod by performing the following.

a. Place the beveled side of the tripod axial spline toward the outboard joint.
b. Align the matchmarks placed before installation.

c.

Using a brass bar and a hammer, install the tripod onto the drive shaft.

NOTE: Do not tap the roller.

d. Using a snap ring expander, install a new snap ring.

5. Before assembling the boot, pack in grease in the boot kit, then assemble the boot to outboard joint.
6. Assemble the boot and the inboard joint tulip, doing the following

a. Pack the inboard joint and boot with grease in the boot kit.
b. Align the matchmarks placed before installation.
c. Install the inboard joint tulip to the drive shaft.
d. Temporarily install the boot to the inboard joint tulip.

7. Assemble the new inboard joint boot clamps to the boot, doing these procedures.

a. Make sure that the two boots are in the shaft groove.
