About the Corolla
The Corolla has been made since 1966 and since 1997 has been the best-selling car nameplate of all time, passing 50 million in 2021. The name means "small crown" in Latin. Early cars were mostly rear-wheel drive and later ones front-wheel drive. From 1984 Corollas were also built at NUMMI in Fremont, California, Toyota's joint venture with General Motors, until 2010.
