Using a suitable feeler gauge, measure clearance between driven rotor and pump case, Fig. 28.

Clearance should be .0039-.0067 inch. If feeler gauge clearance obtained exceeds specified limits, replace oil pump rotor set and/or pump case.

Using a feeler gauge, measure clearance between both rotor tips, Fig. 29. Clearance should be .0024-.0059 inch on all except 3E engine. On 3E
engine, clearance should be .0024-.0063 inch. If feeler gauge clearance obtained exceeds specified limit, replace oil pump rotor set.

On 3E and 3E-E engines, place suitable straightedge across pump opening and measure side clearance, Fig. 30. Side clearance should be
.0012-.0035 inch. If clearance is greater than specifications, replace oil pump rotor set and/or pump body.
