Accessories - Electric Antenna Diagnosis/Assembly

To improve electric -antenna operation, two modifications have been made to the antenna:

0 As of June, 1983 production, a new relay with a power cut-off timer has been installed.

0 As of October, 1983 production, a more powerful motor has been adopted.

The timer has been designed to cut power to the antenna motor after about ten seconds in the event the antenna pole becomes stuck in any position. This
will prevent motor failure. The timer resets itself automatically every time the ignition switch is turned off and supplies power to the antenna motor when
the ignition switch is turned on again. While the ignition switch is in the accessory position, the timer also resets itself automatically by turning the radio
switch off and on again. If the antenna pole is stuck in the up or down position because of icing, the antenna will return to normal operation once the
weather turns milder or the vehicle is parked in a garage.

Due to the new timer, any antenna malfunction requires careful diagnosis to determine exactly which part is faulty. The attached inspection procedure or
the respective repair manual will assist you in testing the power antenna components.

The new complete antenna assembly with holder includes the new relay. The part numbers for each model are as follows:

The previous antenna pole assembly (86301 -Xxxxx) has been discontinued, and the rod assembly with drive cable and housing has been made available
as repair parts.
