Accelerator Pump: Testing and Inspection
Component Testing

AUXILIARY ACCELERATION PUMP DIAPHRAGM

1.

Start engine.

2.

Disconnect AAP hose from BVSV.

3.

Apply and release vacuum to diaphragm at idle.

4.

Ensure engine RPM changes by releasing vacuum.

5.

Connect AAP hose.

6.

If test results are unsatisfactory, replace diaphragm.

VACUUM SWITCHING VALVES

1.

Drain coolant and remove BVSV or TVSV.

2.

Cool valve to temperature below low temperature calibration point and ensure that AAP vacuum passage is open.

3.

Warm valve to temperature above high temperature calibration point and ensure that AAP vacuum passage is closed.

4.

If valve fails to open or close at specified temperatures, replace valve.
