Removal

1.

Fabricate a plate from aluminum or plastic to retain accumulator pistons as shown in Fig. 4.

2.

Raise and support vehicle, clean exterior of transmission and drain fluid.

3.

Remove bolt from filler tube support, if equipped.

4.

Remove oil pan retaining bolts, pan and gasket, and filler tube. Use care when removing filler tube, so as not to distort tube or damage seal.

5.

Remove oil feed tubes, if equipped, by prying at both ends with suitable levers.

6.

Remove oil strainer retaining bolts, strainer and gasket.

7.

Support valve body and remove 17 retaining bolts, noting position of each bolt for installation.

8.

Lower valve body and insert accumulator piston retaining plate, Fig. 5, then secure plate with two pan bolts.
