Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
Removal

1UR-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL: REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected    See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning.

2. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

(a) for 2WD:

Refer to the following procedures    .

(b) for 4WD:

Replacement/Removal.

3. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine

Assembly/Removal

4. REMOVE REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

(a) Using a knife, cut off the lip of the oil seal.

(b) Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.

NOTICE:
Do not damage the surface of the oil seal press fit hole and crankshaft.

HINT
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
