Removal

3MZ-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL:

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

HINT:  (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal)

2. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE & RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

(b) Remove the 8 bolts, rear spacer, drive plate and front spacer.

3. REMOVE ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL

(a) Using a knife, cut through the oil seal lip.
(b) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in tape, pry out the oil seal.

NOTE: After the removal, check if the crankshaft is not damaged. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.
