About the Tacoma
The Tacoma has been made since 1995 as Toyota's North American pickup; most other markets get the Hilux instead. The first generation (1995–2004) was a compact truck, and later ones are mid-size; the 2005 Tacoma was Motor Trend's Truck of the Year. Its name comes from the Coast Salish name for Mount Rainier.
What these manuals cover
- 1995–2004 (first generation): the 2.4-litre (2RZ-FE) and 2.7-litre (3RZ-FE) fours and the 3.4-litre V6 (5VZ-FE), in regular, Extra Cab and Double Cab form, including the PreRunner and S-Runner.
- 2005–2006 (second generation): the 2.7-litre four (2TR-FE) and the 4.0-litre V6 (1GR-FE).
Tip: the 3.4 V6 and 2.7 four are shared with the 4Runner, T100 and early Tundra.
