Compression, Check Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature ≥ 80 ° C/176 ° F).
 Remove, Disconnect Remove ignition cable cover from cylinder head cover, remove sparkplug connectors with KM-836 and sparkplugs with KM-194-C. In the case of vehicles up to MY '93: remove sparkplug connectors with KM-717. Disconnect wiring harness plug from DIS ignition module or from ignition switch device. Remove relay fuel pump - see "Removing and installing relay fuel pump" service instructions. Use compression recorder with rubber cone and measuring range up to 1750 kPa (17.5 bar).
 Inspect Operate starter motor for c. 4 secs with fully open throttle valve - minimum revs 300 rpm. The pressure differential between the individual cylinders should not exceed 100 kPa (1 bar).
 Install, Connect Fit relay fuel pump - see "Removing and installing relay fuel pump" service instruction. Connect wiring harness plug to DIS ignition module or to ignition switch device, attach sparkplugs with KM-194-C to the cylinder heads - tightening torque 25 Nm. Plug in sparkplug connector and connect ignition cable cover to cylinder head cover at C 18 XE, C 18 XEL C 18 SEL, X 18 XE und X 20 XEV - tightening torque 3 Nm/2.2 lbf. ft. ignition cable cover to cylinder head cover at C 20 XE - tightening torque 8 Nm/6 lbf. ft.
