Remove centre console – see operation "Centre Console, Remove and Install" in group "C".

Detach adjustment nut (1) from parking brake cable.

Hold parking brake cable with pliers at bottom end of threaded stud (3) and release from cable guide if necessary.

Disconnect wiring harness plug for oxygen sensor and release wiring harness from fastenings. Remove front exhaust pipe and central silencer. Detach rubber exhaust mount (5) for central silencer on vehicle underbody.

Detach fastening nuts (4) for central silencer heat shield and detach heat shield from vehicle underbody.

Twist front parking brake cable (6) 90° and detach from parking brake compensator.

Detach protective seal (2) for front parking brake cable from parking brake lever carrier plate. Withdraw parking brake cable forwards from protective sleeve.

Pull front parking brake cable into protective sleeve.

Attach protective sleeve (4) to parking brake lever carrier plate.

Attach parking brake cable (2) in parking brake compensator and twist by 90° – ensure that the T-piece is seated correctly at the end of the front parking brake cable in parking brake compensator (arrow). Slide protective sleeve for front parking brake cable (4) in direction of parking brake compensator until over the bead (3) on parking brake cable. This prevents the front parking brake cable from being inadvertently moved and released. Ensure that centre parking brake cable is seated in the retainers (1).

Attach heat shield (7) for centre exhaust pipe to vehicle underbody (arrows) – tightening torque 2 Nm / 1.5 lbf. ft. Attach rubber exhaust mount (8) for centre exhaust pipe to vehicle underbody.

Install front exhaust pipe (5) and central silencer (6). Lay wiring harness for oxygen sensor and connect wiring harness plug.

Attach front parking brake cable to parking brake lever and loosely tighten adjustment nut.
