Rocker Arm, Replace (Cylinder Head Installed), Hydraulic Valve Lifter, Replace (Cylinder Head, Installed)

  Remove

Remove wiring trough (1) from camshaft housing.

Detach engine vent hoses (2) from camshaft housing cover.

Remove camshaft housing cover from camshaft housing.

Remove lower engine compartment cover – see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".

  Adjust

At the fastening bolt of the toothed belt drive gear, turn crankshaft in engine rotation direction until the cam (3) of the rocker arm/hydraulic valve lifter to be replaced assumes a vertical position.

  Remove

Place KM-565-A (1) on camshaft housing and valve spring plate and compress valve spring.

Remove rocker arm (2) from camshaft housing – note thrust piece.

Remove hydraulic valve lifter from camshaft housing.

  Install

Insert hydraulic valve lifter in camshaft housing.

  Adjust

Adjustment of hydraulic valve lifter is omitted.

  Install

Coat sliding surfaces of the rocker arm with MoS 2 lubricating paste (grey) and insert in camshaft housing – note thrust piece.

  Remove

Release valve spring and remove KM-565-A.

  Install

Install lower engine compartment cover – see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".

Install camshaft housing cover with new gasket to camshaft housing – tightening torque – 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

Attach engine vent hoses to camshaft housing cover.

Attach wiring trough to camshaft housing cover and camshaft housing.
