Timing, X 17 DTL  

As in the Astra-F as of Model Year 97, the crankshaft in the X 17 DTL can be locked in 1st cylinder TDC 1) using Locking Pin KM-951.  

The use/introduction of  

 

•  the electronically controlled injection pump VP 29  

•  a new injection pump pulley  

 

allows the injection pump/injection pump pulley likewise to be locked in position at the start of delivery. A new Injection Pump Locking Pin KM-6011 has been developed for this purpose.  

Caution: 

The locking pins are not designed for counterholding, for example when loosening the torsional vibration damper - there is a risk that both the engine components and the tools would become damaged.  

• Service  

The locking tools must be used for all operations on the toothed belt drive. For the exact checking and adjusting operation, consult the "Service Instructions, group J".  

When locking the injection pump in place, ensure that the lock bore hole in the injection pump aligns with the recess in the injection pump flange and the slotted hole in the injection pump pulley (arrow).  

Insert Lock Pin KM-6011 (1) to stop in the injection pump lock bore hole.
