Low Pressure System, Check for Leaks
Remove
Remove engine cover. For X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL engines: Attach
charge air hose to upper part of intake manifold – see
illustration "Air Ducts X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL". Detach oil leak line
(1) from fuel feed line.

Inspect
Put on vacuum pump MKM-667-A in combination with hose MKM-667-10 and apply 0.8 bar (vacuum) or 1.0 bar
(excess pressure) to leak oil lines. If pressure drop occurs or
bubbles form, proceed as follows:
- Inspect all oil leak lines and replace if necessary.
- Carry out the above pressure test at each injector nozzle
crosshead.
- For Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR: remove no.3 and no.4
cylinder throttle valve connecting piece - see operation "Removing
and installing throttle valve connecting piece".
- If the pressure drops: replace seal ring between injector
nozzle and injector nozzle crosshead – see operation
"Injector Nozzle Crosshead, Remove and Install". Then repeat the
above pressure check.
- Perform pressure test again after performing the repair
work.
Install
For Y 20 DTH as of MY 2003, Y 22 DTR: install no.3 and no.4
cylinder throttle valve connecting piece after performing pressure
test - see operation "Removing and installing throttle valve
connecting piece".
Attach oil leak line to fuel supply line. For X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL
engines: Attach charge air hose to upper part of intake manifold
– see illustration "Air Ducts X 20 DTL, Y 20 DTL". Install
engine cover.
